Dakin-Howe-MacCready House

This imposing house on Thorndike Pond Road in Jaffrey Center was built by Samuel Dakin about 1805. From 1815 it was the home of Jaffrey’s first physician, Dr. Adonijah Howe. It is still owned by Howe’s descendants. The siting and some of the detail are Greek Revival in style. The porch was a somewhat later addition as was the slate roof. The attached barn is the largest in the village. This house along with its neighbors on either side present an attractice and unified streetscape.
