Introduction: This section displays some experiments with content.

Adding video images:
I took a video with my digital camera and included it here. It works and could be useful for images of roads and in instances where it would be advantageous to have a panoramic or 360 degree view. Click here to see the video. (This link doesn't work; the .avi extension isn't being accepted by Dreamweaver and needs to be converted to Flash or other.)

A definite disadvantage is that video files are large. This simple one is 38.6 megs.

Image Maps:
We can include maps or other graphics that when clicked in certain areas will take one to another page that could include text and images. For example, a linear feature such Maple Street on a map of Jaffrey on the website could be clicked and this would take you to a page on Maple Avenue that would give details on when it was laid out, how long it is, how wide, the derivation of the name, any pertinent warrant articles, photographs or a video. Wikipedia has a good explanation of Imagemaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_map

Similarly, discrete points like a gravestone or a building could be programed as image maps; so too areas such as a pond or a historic district.

Sean's first example is the location map in the introductory section on Cemeteries. Click on the colored dots and you'll go to the cemetery in question.
Rob included on the Index Map in the Roads section, an image map for Grid D which, in turn, has Fitzwilliam Road as an image map which takes you to a text page on Fitzwilliam Road.

Search engine:

I've put up a search engine on my Antarctic site. This is a free one from master.com and could be used on JaffreyHistory.org.

Google maps:
I've put up a link that will take you to Jaffrey in Google maps.
